Flannel.

I first fell in love with Flannel last year when I was searching for the perfect outfit for one of local illustrator Pip Mcmanus’s art shows. I was in the market for a piece of hers and as it was going to be my first big art purchase I wanted my outfit to be perfect. (Yes, I am one of those girls...secretly you love it.)

After wandering around the shops being ignored by sales assistants for the better part of an hour I finally walked into Flannel, not really knowing what I would find. I was immediately greeted by mega babe Mia (of The Satchel blog, check it out here) and sent into the fitting room with handfuls of hangers to emerge not long after that in THE MOST fabulous shorts and shirt combo that I still wear to death today. In the world of fashion I am very fickle but my Flannel pieces are still an integral part of my everyday wardrobe, for our lovely Instagram followers you will know the shorts in the story as THOSE lace shorts that I seem incapable of taking off.

(From TBFS Instagram: one of many posts involving these beautiful shorts.)

Always classy with a fun twist, I love Flannel because they create beautiful garments that are just as comfortable thrown on with your boyfriend’s shirt or dressed up with your best jewels for a cocktail event. The fabrics are seriously luxe, with butter soft leather, delicate lace and the softest silks dominating the collections however the clothes are not fussy or hard to wear. The fit is always so perfect that you will feel like they have been made for you and by the second wear you will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Kristy Lawrence; Owner and designer at Flannel recently took a quick break from weaving her magic and let The Boyfriend Shirt pick her brain about where she loves to eat in Perth, being featured in Vogue and morning green smoothies!

What influences made you decide to be a designer?

I was the 'Home Ec' girl at school :) I have always loved making people look and feel great. I remember many a time in my teens playing dress up with my sister and girlfriends then hitting the town!

 Favourite collection?

My latest collection, Sheltering Sky, is my favourite to date! It is me all over… I am very much a dress and sandal girl and this season is very much that!

What inspired you to start Flannel?

I had sold my previous business in fashion and was taking time out to be a mum to 3 young babies. Flannel happened very organically with my sister, growing naturally from sketches I would draw late at night to fulfil the creative part of me. Flannel actually started as sleepwear - I was in that space - which has now evolved but still retains the relaxed feeling.

Most memorable moment in regards to your the brand?

So many exciting times for us but probably my most memorable moment would have to be the first time one of my evening gowns was featured in Vogue.

Have you ever had a challenging moment with Flannel and what kept you going?

Challenging moments happen all the time but I really love what I do so nothing ever seems to be too overwhelming. My mum always told me to choose a career that you absolutely love and it will never be work. She was so right. I also have an amazing family and team around me which solves everything :)

Is there anything exciting in the works?

In July we launched our menswear line with our very first dedicated menswear store opening at 33 Napoleon Street, Cottesloe! This coming January the Flannel brand has been invited to showcase our collection at the Who's Next trade show 'Fame' in Paris which should be just a little bit of fun! Then off to look at another store location in the USA.

What/who are your biggest influences?

My influences come from every day life, a movie, a person walking down the street, the way they hold themselves, an attitude! I really love a girl with that healthy glow, kindness in her eyes and confidence in her smile!

Where is your favourite hangout or secret spot of Perth?

It's not so secret that I adore Il lido on the beach in Cottesloe for their chilli crab pasta! Typika's morning coffee on Stirling Hwy is also always treat.

The event or exhibition your most excited about coming up in Perth?

CHRISTMAS!!!! Drink, eat, laugh and be so merry x

Favourite or most prized piece in your wardrobe?

My new boysenberry suede tango shoes from A.P.C!

The things you can't live without?

My family and friends. Oh and my morning green smoothie!

For those who are struggling with a Christmas gift this year I am going to drop a collective hint on behalf of every girl (and guy) in Perth and say if in doubt head to Flannel....You're welcome. x

I have been browsing onnlie more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours Nike P-Rod | Keep | Infant and Toddler Shoes | Fashion Dad. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
