When the girls at Inner Ego contacted us to take part in a two day juice cleanse the timing could not have been more perfect. Having just thrown a big party to launch TBFS to the media we were both stressed, exhausted and had eaten way too many packets of hot chips. To keep our chronic fatigue at bay we usually do eat really well however we were well and truly looking forward to dosing up on all the vitamins that a cold pressed juice cleanse provides.
Now there is no point beating around the bush - even with eight delicious juices you will think about food. A LOT. The hardest part for me was cooking dinner for my family because I am constantly tasting anything I cook and to not be able to taste as I went to adjust flavors was really difficult. I also ate a yoghurt and some twiggy sticks the morning after I had completed the cleanse and that was REALLY not a good idea. My advice would be to taper off your eating in the days before - this means no alcohol, coffee, red meat or heavy carbs and sort of ease back into eating again in the same way.
The benefits I noticed were clearer and more even skin, improved digestion and I found that I was waking up naturally quite early in the mornings which is weird because I am SO not a morning person. Holly noticed the same and she felt like she had loads on energy so we would definitely recommend this to anyone who was feeling a bit flat. The juices themselves were really delicious and varied so it kept things super interesting and most were actually quite savory so its not as if you are drinking eight glasses of sickly sweet juice a day. The juices were numbered so you could take them in an order that would be optimal (ie. zesty to wake you up and protein filled to put you to sleep with a full belly) but they are for individual sale as well in stores so you can pick and choose according to how you are feeling! Our favorites were #1, #7 and #8 but they were all really good!!

The lovely Lynda sat down and answered some questions for TBFS about Inner Ego and her favourite things about Perth!
What inspired you to start Inner Ego?
The lack of cold pressed juices and cleanses in Perth was the catalyst behind starting Inner Ego. We wanted to create a product that was made from real ingredients, in small batches without any hidden nasties. I was sick of finding additives in products that presented themselves as health foods. We also really like raw juices; it’s a quick easy way to get some get some nutrition into your body on the go!
Why should our readers complete a juice cleanse?
To regain balance and cleanse out any impurities that build up over time. Modern life is super busy and it is easy to neglect your inner wellbeing and nutrition. Often we reach for the processed food a little too much than we know we should. Juice cleansing is a great way to wipe the slate clean and focus on your diet and nutrition.
Most memorable moment in regards to developing Inner Ego?
In one of our first weeks of trading we had the loveliest email from a customer who told us she loved everything about our cleanse. To have such great feedback from a customer was fantastic, it really does make everything worthwhile.
Have you ever had a challenging moment with Inner Ego and what kept you going?
Lots! Any small business owner will tell you there are so many hurdles to overcome, design issues, council approvals, supply problems and not having enough hours in the day! Passion for our product and our customers keep us going, at the end of the day these are our biggest motivators.
If there anything exciting in the works?
YES! We are working on a new product, something a bit different, organic and of course yummy. Stayed tuned for more soon!!
Favourite event or exhibition in Perth?
Open House (November), you get an insight into some of the best built environments across Perth.
Favourite hangout/secret spot?
Kyilla Farmers Market on a Saturday morning. A small little markets which is close to home. Seriously good produce and not to crowded!
Most prized possession in your wardrobe?
Claire Vivier Handbag. I believe in quality over quantity when it comes to my wardrobe. This bag was a gift from the most important people in my life so it also has sentimental meaning.
Things you can't live without?
Exercise and Tea. Both enable you to take some time out, calm the mind and re-focus. I am a huge fan of the Tracey Anderson Method, it’s a little bit different and really challenging!
Here at TBFS we thoroughly enjoyed our juice cleanses and would really recommend hopping onto the Inner Ego website and ordering a cleanse for after the weekend! You can also find them on instagram @inner_ego so head over there and give them some love! x
