TBFS Style Guide: Citigold Polo in the Valley.

(PC: Citigold Polo in the Valley)

See our full wrap of the day here

A few weeks ago we were asked to come up with a TBFS style guide for the upcoming Citigold Polo in the Valley which, as a horse lover, I was obviously totally on board with. Although Holly isn’t too sure about the polo ponies (yet - i’ll get her on side one day) she definitely knows her fashion so this was right up our alley here at The Boyfriend Shirt.

We were lucky enough to get free rein at Adam Heath to pull together two looks to start getting all you babes inspired! Our first look is inspired by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (of course). The pretty Phillip Lim two piece is a great alternative to a dress and tulle and silk embellishments add a modern twist. Because of the aqua colour this outfit is really versatile and you can either go for a ladylike tan accessory story or you can make it a bit more young and fun with the colourful Marni purse and jeweled cuff.

(Love the tonal blues in this outfit. We are currently really obsessed with wearing different shades of the same colour for a fresh new take on colour blocking.)

(This light-as-a-feather top will be gorgeous and cool for a day event in the sun.)

(The tulle layer on this skirt is such a fun way to use texture while still keeping it ladylike.)

(Details. Phillip Lim. Obsessed.)

(Because the outfit is quite demure you can have fun with your accessories. A chunky cuff and bright bag add a youthful element to a ladylike outfit.)

Alison Jade Make Up Look #1

The wonderful Alison Jade has created two looks to compliment our Polo outfits (as seen at the Natalie Rolt launch) and a step by step guide to creating the look at home. The first look is very pretty and modern with a slightly darker lip to compliment the gorgeous pastels in the Phillip Lim two piece.

Step 1: Prime the skin using the BB Cream
Step 2: Using a foundation brush apply the Mineral Liquid Powder Foundation
Step 3: Apply eye shadow. We used the bronze collection palette. Start by applying the darkest shadow in the socket of the eye, making sure to buff and blend using a fluffy eye shadow brush. Using a wide eye shadow brush use the bronze colour to fill in the lid, finishing with the cream colour on the inner of the eye to open the eye and make it really pop!
Step 4: Using an angled blush brush apply the blush to the apple of the cheeks. Once again using our bronze collection palette
Step 5: Contour the cheeks using the bronze collection palette to highlight the cheek bones
Step 6: Use the Luxe Liquid Liner Pen to create a winged eye and apply lashings of Lush Mascara
Step 7: Use the brow pallet to lightly fill in and enhance the eyebrows. Apply the colour using a firm angled brush and then comb through to create a softer look.
Step 8: Create beautiful wine-stained lips using the lipstick ‘vino.’

Our second look is for the modern girl who wants to channel Audrey Hepburn. The full midi skirt (reminiscent of Elsa Schiaparelli’s infamous Lobster Skirt) is given a modern twist with a demure crop (Is this an oxymoron? I'm not sure.) On the day we actually pulled this outfit before we realised that both pieces came from Isa Arfen but I have a feeling she would approve. A delicate jewelled necklace and a simple black bag add texture to this look and ensure you will be the centre of attention on the day!

(Holly is currently obsessed with midi skirts and by pairing this Isa Arfen midi with a crop it keeps the silhouette young and fresh.)

(Gorgeous graphics.)

(This is actually back to front because we really liked the back more.)

(Given the colourful skirt we played with the idea of making the jewellery for this outfit really plain and classic however the colours in the necklace matched the skirt so perfectly that we could't resist.)

(A more casual bag ties this outfit together and is big enough to carry your camera, makeup for touchups and (if you are like us) snacks for the day.)

(The simple design of this Adam Heath bag is elevated by the hide panel and gold hardware.)

Alison Jade Make Up Look #2

The second look Alison Jade created is a fresh and natural look to compliment the colourful Isa Arfen skirt. Pretty and polished, this look will keep you looking gorgeous all day!

Step 4: Using an angled blush brush apply the blush to the apple of the cheeks, once again using our bronze collection palette
Step 8: We finished off the look with a coat of lipstick in ‘fetching’
