When we were deciding where to go for dinner with friends on our one night off it could only be Borsch, Vodka & Tears. I make a point of coming here every time I am in Melbourne and really wanted Holly to try it as I thought a good, nourishing bowl of borsch mid Fashion Week would go some way towards counteracting all the wine, cheese and late nights we were having.
(Honey and chilli 'Beesting' cocktail.)
It didn’t quite go that way.
Already two glasses of wine in post VAMFF, we headed to our friend’s apartment for a quick outfit change only to accidentally consume A LOT more wine before we even thought about hopping in a cab to the restaurant. So herein the theme of the night changed from “lets go and get some soup and maybe ONE cocktail” to “Whooooooo, I LOVE Vodka!!!!”. If I had not promised myself never to use the word there would probably have been a YOLO in there somewhere too.
(Assorted drunk snacks)
Arriving at Borsch, Vodka & Tears is like stepping into an old school European restaurant where the food, drinks and noise levels are all out of this world. As soup was just going to get in the way of our vodka we ended up just getting a few snack items which were all delicious however if you find yourself here PLEASE order the borsch as it is amazing. I am really not a vodka drinker however I make an exception whenever I head out here as Borsch, Vodka & Tears import theirs from Poland and infuse them with such interesting and exciting flavours that they really are in a class of their own.
(Vodka tasting platter - how amazing are those vintage glasses!)
Located on 173 Chapel Street in Winsdor make sure you make a date with them next time you are in Melbourne. In the meantime head to the Borsch, Vodka & Tears website here to start compiling your drinks wish list.
