ONCE Upon A Run.

At TBFS our work outs vary from hardcore legs day at the gym to 'situps' on the couch when we reach for our wine however one thing we both appreciate is gym gear that not only feels comfy but also looks great. ONCE Upon A Run takes the expertise about what works in the exercise realm of two high profile athletes and infuses in with some serious style kudos for gym gear you will find yourself sneaking into your everyday wardrobe. We spoke with Shae Bolton, one half of the power couple behind this hot new label.
LOVE the name, tell us about it?
Every time i step outside to go for a run (or any exercise for that matter) it is an opportunity for a mini adventure. Whether it be the adventure of a new running spot. Or the tangent my mind takes me on while I am running. ONCE is an active wear label. People are being active in it. They are doing things and not necessarily purposeful exercise. It could be running around after your kids or grocery shopping or brunch with your besties. The name refers to our personal active story.
What were you finding that other active wear labels were lacking?
Mitch and I have been training day in and day out for nearly 10 years each. Over the years we realised that when you are most comfortable and undistracted by the clothes you are wearing you are more focused on the experience you are having while training.
We wanted to build a range around this concept. You will notice we don’t have branding splashed all over our product. We are a basics range. Using the softest and most functional fabrics, with flattering cuts and shapes.
The other thing you will notice is our price point is super affordable.

Favourite pieces from your first collection?
I honestly love it all. But our Taking Flight and Desert Runner Tights are hard to go past. Made from a fabric called supplex, it feels like cotton, acts like a super lycra and never goes see through (we like to call it "downward dog" proof). Because they are a little thicker than your average tight you can wear them all day long without feeling like you forgot your pants.

Where can our readers find Once Upon A Run in Perth?
Our womenswear is stocked and ready to go online at www.onceuponarun.com.au. We also have our showroom in Claremont which is open by appointment if you want to come in and try on all our sizes. Just contact us through our email team@onceuponarun.com.au or social media accounts (@once_uponarun) and we can organise some one on one styling time! We are also about to start stocking in a few boutiques around Perth. We will be posting more information soon. Our menswear will be dropping online in the middle of December. So girls, you will have your boys christmas gifts sorted.

Speaking of runs, where is your favourite place to work out in Perth?
Perth is full of incredible spots. Our campaign video was shot in the most incredible locations which are all right on our doorstep. When you think of Perth’s scenery the go-to is the beaches. Which you will find me at any day of the week. But Perth offers even more than just that. We are so lucky to have the prettiest parks and reserves. It makes running and exercise so much more enjoyable! Watch the campaign video and I dare you not to want to go for a run around Perth after that (www.onceuponarun.com.au). The best fun I have had exercising this off season has been at Anarchy Training Centre, headed by Renae Wauhop and Glen Austin. Such a good workout with the best beats and wicked atmosphere.

What upcoming Perth event are you most excited about?
Ummm the three month event called Summer!!! I also love summer sport. The Perth Wildcats, Perth Glory, the Scorchers, the West Coast Waves. Mitch and I are adoptive West Australians and love supporting WA teams.

Favourite secret spot in Perth?
All of my secret spots aren’t so secret. Its the time of day you go. Early morning around Herdsman Lake or Bold Park or Lake Monger are some of our favourite spots to start the day.
Scroll down for more goodness from the launch night and hop online to check it out. Sizes are selling out fast and you do NOT want to miss out on getting your hands on a piece (or 5) from this collection.
