Empire Rose - Telstra Perth Fashion Festival
As the lights went down and the iconic image of Paris’s riverside Ferris wheel began to play we were transported to the chic streets of Cambon where ethereal twin beauties meandered around the city of light. Proving two is always better than one Empire Rose sent twin modern day Marie Antoinettes down the runway in dreamy concoctions juxtaposed with a crisp white sneaker…..as you can imagine we were hooked!
Being separated last year as Lou was in Paris and Holly in Perth for the respective fashion weeks being able to sit next to each other in a show that looked like it was made for us was truly special. Many a boyfriend shirt were sent down the runway and we are still lusting after the slouchy, easy throws and intricate sets of lingerie.
In a stroke of genius the Dj became a model with his posse as a group of left bank bohemians stormed the runway to thunderous applause. We especially loved seeing beards and man buns making an appearance. The androgynous looks are easy to wear items that are perfect for our hot summers.
While being serenaded by French pop we were treated to rich brocade fabrics that would be at home in Versailles and pants perfect for swanning around the city in summer. But perhaps the most special part of the show was the Chanel-esque brides taking their final turn with Heath Ledger’s nieces, Rorie and Scarlett as their adorable flower girls. The message of #LOVEWINS was strong and the statement in support of marriage equality served to make an exquisite show even more perfect.
The bride’s dress was perhaps the most coveted item in the show, in the post parade VIP tent buzz we heard at least 4 girls gushing about how they could definitely get married in it!
The show built on Empire Rose’s traditionally whimsical feel with a tougher edge that a modern day French lady might wear. This street edge, softened by the delicacy of the fabrics and undergarments is a perfectly executed step outside the brand’s traditional comfort zone. TBFS highlights included the twinning vibes, Olivia Donaldson’s amazing robe (check out our insta for the snap) and THAT final dress.
We loved being transported to Paris for the evening and will definitely be picking up a few pieces in preparation for the season ahead!
Dressed by Mikey from Stylespiration, Lou wears Zantheus from Generics, Saba and Kate Spade. Holly wears The Fifth by Australian Fashion Labels with Poppy Lissiman.
We're so excited to bring you more of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival 2015 lineup!
