Day 2 - TPFF
Adam Heath - 50 Years of Australian Fashion and Music.
In what could also have been called "The Best History Lesson Ever", Adam Heath took us on a journey back through time to the 1950's with each decade matched with a killer soundtrack from the same era.
Starting with the demure and chic woman of the 1950's, we then descended into the weird, wonderful and downright hilarious trends of the subsequent decades. You couldn't help but smile at the taffeta madness and puffy sleeves and it was a thoroughly enjoyable show. We were left reminded of the fact that puffy sleeves were the height of cool, Ken Done did a clothing range (what??) and that everyone wore a netted wrap skirt in the early 2000's. Thank you Adam Heath for making us smile and making the women of Perth feel like a million dollars for 50 years, here's to 50 more!
WA Designer Capsule
With the show featuring some TBFS favourites, we were looking forward to see what we would inevitably be buying and wearing to death this summer!
House of Skye was a really pleasant surprise with some edge injected into this season in the form of denim and embroidery. The label is usually a little too boho and pretty for us but we found ourselves coveting quite a few looks on the evening which we are already mentally slotting into our wardrobe.
Bruug is a firm favourite of ours and this season was no exception. The collection featured buttercup yellow (which we are calling as the colour of this season) and floaty fabrics accessorised with the best earrings we have ever seen.
Natalie Rolt is fresh from showing at NYFW and she has definitely taken her label to the next level. Presenting an all white show, Rolt focuses on the cut of the garments and the result is visually striking and gorgeous. Special mention to the girl who lost a shoe and kicked the other off to finish her walk like a boss.
