Oh fashion week, the perfect excuse to wear your sequinned pants at 9am. It's a favourite time of the year when normal fashion etiquette can be bent and a safe zone to play with new textures and looks.
However it's come under fire lately for becoming a bit of a circus. Hoards of bloggers prancing in front of street style photographers in the hope they may just squeeze their left foot in the frame. While this year came with many lust worthy outfits, there also seemed to be a lingering few who enjoyed peacocking - wearing outrageous outfits for the sake of 'fashion'. It does beg the question though, when photographers flock to take their picture can they really be blamed for what is essentially a quick PR stunt?
Street Smith recently put together an argument for highlighting the true heroes of fashion week, those behind the scenes who have lived and breathed this industry long before bloggers and celebrities influences emerged. And while we are thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this world, remembering that there is a world beyond Instagram is vital in supporting the evolution of fashion.
