Our most anticipated show in the calendar was Empire Rose. Our excitement was rewarded with Kath delivering a crazy good show, filled with models and Perth icons alike. Cameos from Stormie Mills and Ash Keogh to a killer set had us dancing in our seats and the slogan tees emblazoned with “Loose AF” and “Not Here To Fuck Spiders” making us giggle. Always one for a bit of sparkle, we also saw leopard and tartan, worked back with the trademark Empire Rose staples. Basics for the not so basic, a few of these looks will be finding their way into our wardrobes for sure!
New Gen is always a favourite of ours as it’s really exciting to see what the next wave of designers are sending down the runway. While sometimes the showcased garments would need to be tempered to be commercially viable there were more than a few looks that we would happily have purchased straight off the model’s backs! We saw lots of tiered dresses and simple shapes which would be perfect for summer!
Closing night saw Perth born international model Nicole Trunfio jet into Perth to open the show. An impressive retrospective back through the last twenty years of West Australian fashion, a rainbow of pieces were sent down the runway. Surprisingly emotional, the show honoured past and present designers and was a beautiful way to celebrate twenty years of the Perth Fashion Festival.
